Some background information

Horses and Humans

Horses and horse-like animals (e.g. donkeys and ponies) have been domesticated, used and breeded by mankind since thousands of years for different purposes, e.g. for travelling and for transporting goods.

With the industrial revolution horses have then be superseded by machines.

For travelling and transporting goods these machines were land vehicles, most notably cars as successor of horse carriages.

But the legacy of horses in the area of land vehicles can still be found today because names of horses are still sometimes used for land vehicles (e.g. mustang) and also because the width of streets and railroad tracks is essentially a result of the width of former horse carriages (which is the width of the back of two horses).

Flying Horses

Following our Vision we are building vehicles with the combined capability of travelling on land and in the air because vehicles with such combined capabilities can be advantageous in many situations.

Simply spoken such vehicles could be seen as land vehicles with the added capability of travelling in the air, or they could be seen as aerial vehicles with the added capability of travelling on land, but in both cases this is only if simply spoken.

The truth is that such vehicles are not just land/aerial vehicles to which the addidional capability of travelling in the air/on land has simply been added. They are a whole new category of vehicles which have been especially designed for having the combined capability of travelling on land and in the air.

Seeing it historically mankind however first was travelling on land before it also started to conquer the sky. From this historical development – and in consequent continuation of the origin of land vehicles, which were horses – our products, i.e. vehicles which are capable of travelling on land and in the air, can symbolically be seen as modern horses which are also capable of travelling on land and in the air, which are – simply spoken – flying horses.

Such flying horses do not exist in the real world, but they do exist as mythological animals in several cultures, like the Chollima in East Asia and the Buraq in the Arabic Region. The most prominent example of a flying horse however is Pegasos from greek mythology.

Over the course of time this winged horse from greek mythology was also adopted in other cultural areas and it is nowadays know virtually in the whole world, even though with regionally adopted spelling, like Pegas, Pegase, Pegaso or most common Pegasus.

Brand

Out of the many different regional spellings of this winged horse from greek mythology – an animal with the combined capability of travelling on land and in the air – we have chosen its original (transcribed) greek spelling as perfectly fitting brand PEGASOS® for what we are all about.

And furthermore we then also added the word vehicles for representing especially our vehicles with the combined capability of travelling on land and in the air by that resulting brand PEGASOS VEHICLES®.

Because this flying horse from greek mythology in general is such a perfect representation for everything with the characteristic of having the combined capability of travelling on land and in the air, we decided to simply call things with such a characteristic pegasious. This is in imitation of amphibious vehicles – which are vehicles with the combined capability of travelling on land and on water – who lent their name from amphibious animals.

Even though the word pegasosious would be a better fit for our brand we decided to use this word pegasious because it is simpler and because the leading word portion pegas is part in almost all different languages of this mythological animal. Altogether this word will therefore probably immediately be understood by everyone from all around the world.

Logo

The lower half of our logo shows the earth with a street towards the horizont, symbolizing travelling on land.

The upper half shows the sky with a condensation trail originating from the horizon, symbolizing travelling in the air.

Street and condensation trail together form the letter P – which is an abreviation of our brand name PEGASOS® – and additionally they are intersecting each other to form a +, which is widely used as a symbol for „and“ (and which is therefore used wrong when seeing it mathematically).

With this + it is symbolized that our products are capable of travelling on land and in the air and that they are not just vehicles capable of travelling on land or in the air.

In this way the letter P symbolizes our company and our products in an equally perfect way as the name Pegasos does, but independent of this name and hence also understandable for people who are not familiar with the meaning of the name Pegasos.

Additionally the letter P is formed in a way as so that it points to the O and therefore underlines the original (transcribed) greek spelling.

Finally the (rounded) triangular shape of the logo again symbolizes the three dimensions in which our vehicles are capable of travelling.

Remark If combined with the brand the logo does not contain the name Pegasos because it would be redundant. Such a combination is given in the header of our website.

Product Names

In consequent continuation of the origin of land vehicles, which were horses and horse-like animals, we have chosen appropriate names for our vehicles according to the specific charcteristics of the different models. These vehicle names are:

  • Model D – The Pegasos Donkey
This name has been given to our pegasious trailer because this vehicle is not travelling on land by it’s own power but just if pulled by some other vehicle. Just like donkeys have to be pulled according to a widespread cliche.
  • Model P – The Pegasos Pony
This name has been given to our pegasious urban air vehicle because the main purpose of this vehicle is travelling in the air and therefore it is only capable of travelling on land rather slow and only over rather small distances (e.g. moving in/out of a garage or parking lot). Just like ponies with their rather short legs.
  • Model W – The Pegasos Warmblood
This name has been given to our pegasious car because the main purpose of this vehicle is transport of humans, for which in the past there have typically been used warmblood horses.
  • Model C – The Pegasos Coldblood
This name has been given to our pegasious transporter because the main purpose of this vehicle is transport of goods, for which in the past there have typically been used coldblood horses.
  • Model Z – The Pegasos Zebra
This name has been given to our pegasious quad because it is for sure our wildest vehicle, and the only remaining horse-like wild animals are Zebras.
